Version 3.47 of the Application for Extracting and Exploring Analysis Ready Samples (AρρEEARS) has been released! This release adds data from the Earth Surface Mineral Dust Source Investigation (EMIT) instrument installed on the International Space Station (ISS). EMIT uses an advanced imaging spectrometer to measure the spectrum of light ranging from the visible to shortwave infrared (381 to 2493 nanometers) for each location in an image. This information can be used across several domains to map things like surface mineralogy, vegetation species and health, snow grain size, water quality, dust, and greenhouse gas emissions. AρρEEARS has added the following EMIT datasets:

  • EMIT L1B At-Sensor Calibrated Radiance and Geolocation Data (EMITL1BRAD v001)
  • EMIT L2A Estimated Surface Reflectance and Uncertainty and Masks (EMITL2ARFL v001)

Note, while these products will be available for point and area requests via AρρEEARS, results will only be available for download. At this time, the AppEEARS user interface does not support visualizing and exploring of results containing EMIT variables, but this feature will be added in the future.

About AρρEEARS

AρρEEARS offers a simple and efficient way to perform data access and transformation processes by enabling users to download only the data they need. AρρEEARS provides access to a wide range of geospatial data from multiple federal archives, including MODIS onboard the Terra and Aqua satellites, the Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) mission, Daymet gridded weather parameters, ASTER Global Digital Elevation Model (GDEM) Version 3, and population information from the Gridded Population of the World (GPW) collection.

A complete listing of data products available in AρρEEARS can be found on the Available Products list. Additional resources for using AρρEEARS are available on the LP DAAC E-Learning page.
