Workshop presentation on working with LP DAAC remote sensing data in a GIS environment given at the Black Hills Digital Mapping Association's 2016 annual conference. Presentation includes a description of the LP DAAC. The workshop also included demonstrations and hands-on activities. The first activity involved demonstrating how to search for and download ASTER L1T and MODIS data through NASA’s Earthdata Search Client. Next, how to properly load MODIS and ASTER L1T data into ArcMap (10.4). The workshop also included demonstrations of AppEEARS point sample requests and how to order, visualize, and download both point samples and area extraction in AppEEARS. It also shows how you can create and export point and polygon shapefiles in ArcMap, and use them as input for making AppEEARS requests. All of the demos used the 2000 Jasper Fire as a use case example.
