As of April 1, 2016, all Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) data products are available at no charge from the LP DAAC.
ASTER Level 1A and 1B Expedited data products (AST_L1AE and AST_L1BE) are available for download for approximately 30 days. After 30 days, the data are selected to be retired and users are encouraged to access the ASTER L1A (AST_L1A), L1T (AST_L1T) or higher-level data products.
For additional information please refer to our FAQ page.
ASTER data and products distributed by the LP DAAC, with the exception of the ASTER Global Digital Elevation Model (GDEM) dataset (ASTGTM) version 2 (v2), have no restrictions on data use, sale, or subsequent redistribution.
ASTER GDEM v2 data are subject to restrictions on redistribution. Published or presented products must also include appropriate citation.
Before ordering ASTER GDEM v2 data, users must agree to redistribute data products only to individuals within their organizations or projects of intended use, or in response to disasters in support of the Group on Earth Observation (GEO) Disaster Theme. When presenting or publishing ASTER GDEM v2 data, users are required to include a citation stating, "ASTER GDEM is a product of NASA and METI."
Because there are known inaccuracies and artifacts in the data set, please use the product with awareness of these limitations. The data are provided "as is" and neither National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) nor Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) / Earth Resources Satellite Data Analysis Center (ERSDAC) will be responsible for any damages resulting from use of the data.
Please see the Citing Our Data page for detailed information and examples.
