ASTER Global Emissivity Dataset (GED) Product Release

April 02, 2014
By: LP DAAC

LP DAAC released the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) Global Emissivity Dataset (GED) datasets on April 2, 2014. The dataset was developed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), California Institute of Technology. The dataset includes land surface emissivities derived from ASTER data acquired over the contiguous United States, Africa, Arabian Peninsula, Australia, Europe, and China. Completion of South America is expected in 2014. By increasing the geographic coverage of emissivity retrievals, these data subsume (and thus replace) LP DAAC North American ASTER Land Surface Emissivity Database (NAALSED), which was a seasonal data set consisting of mean summer and winter products.

ASTER GED products are available on 1º×1º tiles at 100-meter or 1-kilometer spatial resolution (nominal). For additional product information, please click here. Product tiles are available in HDF and binary format and may be downloaded via HTTP by visiting the following data clients:
