The Land Processes Distributed Active Archive Center (LP DAAC) will be decommissioning the MODIS Version 5 land data products starting April 9, 2018. This will include all Terra MODIS, Aqua MODIS, and the combined Terra+Aqua MODIS datasets with the exception of the Land Cover products (MCD12s). Remaining MODIS Version 4 datasets will be decommissioned as well. These products will no longer be available for search and download from the LP DAAC.
The improved MODIS Version 6 land datasets have been available for over a year, allowing the MODIS community to transition from the Version 5 products over that time.
Users are also advised, in addition to the standard Version 6 counterparts, there are new product suites available that were previously not available as Version 5. For reference, the MODIS Version 6 datasets are listed under the MODIS Products Table.
These data are available for download through the LP DAAC Data Pool, DAAC2Disk, and NASA’s Earthdata Search.
