The University of Maryland MODIS Land Science Computing Facility would like to make the following statement concerning the version of MOD44B (Vegetation Continuous Fields (VCF)) that has been distributed since February 7, 2007 (MOD44B.004).
The collection 4 Vegetation Continuous Fields product has been temporarily removed from the distribution server. Users who have downloaded the product already should stop using this product at this time and should instead use the Collection 3 product.
An issue has been identified where tree cover between 80 and 100% can be labeled with a discrete value rather than a continuous value. In rarer circumstances a similar phenomenon can be seen below 10% tree cover. A fix for this problem is under development and an improved product will be available in the coming weeks.
