Recent evaluation of the V005 MCD12Q1 (Land Cover Type) product revealed systematic errors in specific regions and land cover classes. As a result, no V005 MCD12Q1 products were produced beyond calendar year 2009. In the near future, the MODIS Science Team expects to produce a new version (Collection 5.1) of the land cover type product that corrects most of the previously identified problems. At that time, we expect to release V051 land cover type products that span from 2001 to present. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and appreciate your patience.
