Release of AρρEEARS 2.1: New LST&E Data Now Available

Oct 23, 2017
By: LP DAAC

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Version 6 collection features a new suite of Land Surface Temperature and Emissivity (LST&E) data products (MxD21). The Level 3 MxD21 data products (MxD21A1D, MxD21A1N, MxD21A2) are now available in AρρEEARS. There are fundamental differences between the algorithms used to derive the MxD21 LST and MxD11 LST products. Notably, the MxD21 algorithm is based on the ASTER Temperature Emissivity Separation (TES) method, whereas the MxD11 uses the split-window technique.

About AρρEEARS

AρρEEARS offers users a simple and efficient way to perform data access and transformation processes by enabling users to download only the data they need. AρρEEARS provides access to a wide range of environmental variables derived from sources, such as Terra and Aqua Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data, as well as population information from the Gridded Population of the World (GPW) Version 4 collection.

Step-by-step instructions on how to use AρρEEARS, along with a complete listing of products available, can be found on the AρρEEARS Help page. Additional resources for using AρρEEARS are available on the LP DAAC E-Learning page. For questions, contact LP DAAC User Services at lpdaac@usgs.gov.
