Release of AρρEEARS Version 2.64

By: LP DAAC

Version 2.64 of the Application for Extracting and Exploring Analysis Ready Samples (AρρEEARS) has been released. This release includes the following:

  • The AρρEEARS team has updated several software library dependencies used by the AρρEEARS processing software. These include:
  • Update of the Geospatial Data Abstraction Library (GDAL) to version 3.1.2
  • Update of the Python package Rasterio to version 1.0.25
  • Update of the Python package Fiona to version 1.8.14

As a result of this update, AρρEEARS area extractions are more inclusive; returning all pixels that intersect with a feature’s boundary regardless of the amount of overlap between the boundary and the pixel. If an AρρEEARS request is re-submitted, users may notice a slight pixel increase to the number of columns and/or rows in their area extraction outputs when compared to previous requests. These updates will also cause small changes in the statistics generated for each area extraction output. The outputs resulting from these updates more accurately represent the expected extraction footprint.

About AρρEEARS

AρρEEARS offers a simple and efficient way to perform data access and transformation processes by enabling users to download only the data they need. AρρEEARS provides access to a wide range of geospatial data from multiple federal archives, including MODIS aboard the Terra and Aqua satellites, NASA-produced S-NPP VIIRS, the Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) mission, Landsat Analysis Ready Data, Daymet gridded weather parameters, ASTER Global Digital Elevation Model (GDEM) Version 3, and population information from the Gridded Population of the World (GPW) Version 4 collection.

A complete listing of data products available in AρρEEARS can be found on the Available Products list. Additional resources for using AρρEEARS are available on the LP DAAC E-Learning page.
