Update on ASTER L1A Operations

Tasks related to the Ground Data System (GDS) network changes from the current Asia-Pacific Advanced Network (APAN) to the Science Information NETwork (SINET) scheduled for October 14 through 28, 2020 were extended through November 16, 2020. Data transfers for ASTER L1A Reconstructed Unprocessed Instrument Data have resumed along with the processing of downstream data products. The backlog is also being processed and data products will be available for order in Earthdata Search after it has been populated in the database.

The status of activities is noted below:

  • The transfer of new ASTER L1A data from ASTER GDS to the LP DAAC will be suspended. (Resumed on Nov 16th)
  • The transfer of new ASTER Expedited data from EOS Data Operations System (EDOS) to the LP DAAC will be suspended. (Resumed on Nov 6th)
  • The generation of downstream ASTER AST_L1T, AST_L1AE, and AST_L1BE data products will be suspended. (Resumed on Nov 6th)
  • The updates to the LP DAAC ASTER Expedited Data Sets (EDS) system will be suspended. (Resumed on Nov 6th)
  • The updates to the LP DAAC ASTER Emergency Scheduling Interface and Control System (AESICS) system will be limited to adding and scheduling new requests. (Resumed on Nov 6th)
  • Data Acquisition Request (DAR) user registration and modification will be on hold. (Verified on Nov 12th)
