USGS Landsat Collection 1 Products Now Available in NASA's Earthdata Search

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has recently reorganized the Landsat archive into a formal tiered inventory structure, referred to as a “Collection.” The Collection structure ensures that Landsat Level-1 products provide a consistent archive of known data quality to support time-series analyses and data “stacking,” while also allowing continuous improvement of the archive and access to all data as they are acquired.

The Landsat Collections include: Landsat 8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) and Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS), Landsat 7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+), and Landsat 4-5 Thematic Mapper (TM). The processing of Landsat 1-5 Multispectral Scanner (MSS) will begin early 2018.

Available Landsat Collection 1 products are now accessible through NASA’s Earthdata Search. They can be found directly using their respective short names on NASA’s Earthdata Search: Landsat_8_OLI_TIRS_C1, Landsat 7_ETM_Plus_C1 and Landsat 4-5_TM_C1

Additional product information can be found using the links below:

Landsat 7 Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) Collection 1 – Landsat 7_ETM_Plus_C1
Landsat 4-5 Thematic Mapper (TM) Collection 1 – Landsat 4-5_TM_C1

Direct download of the data also requires the USGS ERS login credentials.
