Aqua MODIS Data Loss March 22 through 25, 2024

A non-recoverable data loss occurred for Aqua MODIS on March 22 through 25, 2024, due to a power failure at the Svalbard ground station in Norway. Scheduled contacts from the ground station were missed and only partial data have been recovered.

All Version 6.1 Aqua MODIS data products are directly impacted by the confirmed data loss for the dates and times listed below.

• On March 23, 2024 (2024/083), a data loss impacted granules acquired 2024/083 01:00 - 09:15 (inclusive) and 2024/083 23:55 – 23:59 (inclusive).
• On March 24, 2024 (2024/084), a data loss impacted granules acquired 2024/084 00:00 - 09:55 (inclusive) and 13:25 - 15:00 (inclusive).
• On March 25, 2024 (2024/085), a data loss occurred impacted granules acquired 2024/085 00:45 - 05:40 (inclusive) and 07:40 - 08:55 (inclusive).
