The LP DAAC will cease distribution of MODIS Version 6.0 (V6.0) land data products on Monday, July 31, 2023. This will include all Terra MODIS, Aqua MODIS, and combined Terra+Aqua MODIS datasets with the exception of the Land Water Mask (MOD44W) and the Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function and Albedo (BRDF/Albedo) Gap-Filled Snow-Free (MCD43GF) data products. MODIS V6.0 data products will no longer be available for search and download from Data Pool, AppEEARS, NASA’s Earthdata Search, USGS EarthExplorer, or OPeNDAP.
The User Guides and Algorithm Theoretical Basis Documents (ATBDs) for MODIS V6.0 data products will be retained and available via the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) landing pages on the LP DAAC website. The DOI landing pages will remain available as a permanent URL for historical information and citations.
Users are encouraged to transition to MODIS Version 6.1 (V6.1) data products. MODIS V6.1 offers additional data products that were not available in V6.0. The complete list of MODIS V6.1 datasets is listed on the MODIS Products Table.
MODIS V6.1 data products are available for download through the Data Pool, AppEEARS, NASA’s Earthdata Search, and USGS EarthExplorer.
