On Wednesday January 22nd, the LP DAAC, in cooperation with the USGS Landsat team, enabled Landsat 8 data downloads via ECHO Reverb. Users are now able to search, browse and order Landsat 8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) and Thermal Infrared Sensor (TIRS) data, located in the L8 OLI/TIRS and L8 OLI/TIRS Pre-WRS-2 data sets.

The OLI and TIRS instruments are onboard the Landsat 8 satellite, which was launched February 11, 2013. The satellite collects images of the Earth with a 16-day repeat cycle, referenced to the Worldwide Reference System-2 (WRS-2), and has an 8-day offset to Landsat 7.

The Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS Pre-WRS-2 data set contains nearly 10,000 scenes acquired by the OLI and/or TIRS sensors after launch through April 10, 2013, when the satellite achieved operational orbit (WRS-2).
The data may be accessed via Reverb at the following link: http://reverb.echo.nasa.gov
