NCEP/TOVS data in processing ASTER Level 2 On-Demand products. Since April 18, 2005, the NOAA TIROS Operational Vertical Sounder (TOVS) data produced by the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) have contained errors due to satellite instrument problems. LP DAAC has received and archived these data for use as ancillary inputs for data production. NCEP/TOVS is offered, in addition to the Climatology products, as a Column Ozone Product Source option for use in ASTER Level 2 processing.
The NCEP/TOVS option may still be selected for processing ASTER data acquired prior to April 18, 2005. Note that if NCEP/TOVS is selected for processing data acquired from April 18, 2005 onward, then ASTER Level 2 processing will use Climatology data as the Column Ozone Product Source.
