The Land Data Operational Product Evaluation (LDOPE) team discovered a performance issue for the Terra MODIS Version 6 (V6) Daily Land Surface Temperature/Emissivity (LST&E) data products. Valid pixel counts for daily mid-latitude V6 Level-2 and Level-3 LST&E data show a significant loss of valid retrievals compared to V6.1. The loss of data retrieval was traced to the Terra photovoltaic (PV) long-wave infrared (LWIR) cross-talk issue and a correction was implemented into the V6.1 processing. Users are encouraged to switch to the V6.1 LST&E data products.
A link for the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) landing page for each dataset impacted by this issue is provided below.
The main impact is to the MOD11_L2, MOD11A1, and MOD11B1 V6 data products. It then carries through all downstream V6 LST&E data products.
