ATTENTION

This is a LEGACY RESOURCE. It is no longer maintained but is usable with minor adjustments. This resource leverages NASA's Application for Extracting and Exploring Analysis-Ready Samples (AppEEARS). AppEEARS has been deployed in NASA's Earthdata Cloud space. You can access AppEEARS using the new link: https://appeears.earthdatacloud.nasa.gov/. For up to date information on using the AppEEARS API and examples, please see the AppEEARS API Documentation. If you have questions, please contact LP DAAC User Services (lpdaac@usgs.gov).

This 90-minute "It AppEEARS we have a solution to many of your data issues!" presentation / workshop was given on October 25 at the 2019 Applied Geography Conference.

Workshop Part 1

Hands-on Workshop for Accessing, Processing, and Analyzing Fire and Vegetation data in Yosemite National Park using AppEEARS.

Description:

These materials were presented as a workshop at the Applied Geography Conference on Friday, October 25, 2019. The goal of the workshop was to provide participants with information and resources for accessing, analyzing and downloading S-NPP NASA VIIRS Thermal Anomalies and Fire data and Terra MODIS Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) data using AppEEARS. This repository contains the materials used during the workshop for the AppEEARS Area Use Case #1.
Be sure to read the instructions below for how to complete the workshop on your own.

Topics Covered:

  1. Extracting data in AppEEARS
  2. Exploring results of an Area Sample request
  3. Download the contents of an AppEEARS Area Sample request

Instructions:

  1. Download and open the AGC 2019 AppEEARS Area Use Case #1 file and complete each step outlined in that document.

Workshop Part 2

Hands-on Workshop for Accessing, Processing, and Analyzing Temperature, Vegetation, and Precipitation data over bus stops in the Phoenix Metro area using AppEEARS.

Description:

These materials were presented as a workshop at the Applied Geography Conference on Friday, October 25, 2019. The goal of the workshop was to provide participants with information and resources for accessing, analyzing and downloading Terra MODIS Daytime and Nighttime Land Surface Temperature (LST) data, Daymet Precipitation data, and eMODIS Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) data using AppEEARS. This repository contains the materials used during the workshop for the AppEEARS Point Use Case #2.
Be sure to read the instructions below for how to complete the workshop on your own.

Topics Covered:

  1. Extracting data in AppEEARS
  2. Exploring results of an Point Sample request
  3. Download the contents of an AppEEARS Point Sample request

Instructions:

  1. Download and open the AGC 2019 AppEEARS Point Use Case #2 file and complete each step outlined in that document.
