LP DAAC has begun migrating data to a cloud-based environment. The ASTER Global Digital Elevation Model (GDEM) 1 arc second (ASTGTM) dataset is the first product to move from the traditional infrastructure to the NASA Earthdata Cloud (EDC) and will be offered in cloud optimized GeoTIFF (COG) format. Users will not notice any difference when downloading data from Earthdata Search. The LP DAAC archive will continue to migrate to the cloud as we transition to the EDC to accommodate the growing need for new science and application of large-scale analytics.
ASTGTM data in standard GeoTIFF format remain available through LP DAAC’s Data Pool and USGS EarthExplorer.
