LP DAAC Releases ASTER L1T Version 3.1 Data Product

The Land Processes Distributed Active Archive Center (LP DAAC) is pleased to announce the availability of the Terra Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) Level 1 Precision Terrain Corrected Registered At-Sensor Radiance (AST_L1T) Version 3.1 data product.

Product improvements/changes for Version 3.1 are listed below:

  • New Product Generation Executables (PGE) are used to create ASTER Level 1A Reconstructed Unprocessed Instrument data which are used as source data for ASTER L1T processing.
  • The ASTER L1T V3.1 data product utilizes new radiometric calibration coefficients (RCC Version 5).
  • The ASTER L1T V3.1 will be available via on-demand processing in Hierarchical Data Format - Earth Observing System (HDF-EOS) through NASA’s Earthdata Search.

The ASTER L1T V3.1 Search and Order Instructions provide step by step directions for on-demand ordering of the new data product through NASA’s Earthdata Search. ASTER L1T ancillary files, which are produced as part of the L1T on-demand collection, will not be available with the on-demand flow at this time. Stayed tuned for updates related to the ancillary files.

ASTER L1T V3 data will continue forward processing with RCC V4 and the archive will remain available for direct download through the LP DAAC Data Pool, NASA’s Earthdata Search, and USGS EarthExplorer.
