The Land Processes Distributed Active Archive Center (LP DAAC) is pleased to announce the availability of a new suite of Terra and Aqua Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) Version 6 Land Surface Temperature and Emissivity (LST&E) data products. The MOD21 algorithm is based on the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) Temperature Emissivity Separation (TES) algorithm, which uses full radiative transfer simulations for the atmospheric correction, and an emissivity model based on the variability in the surface radiance data to dynamically retrieve both LST and spectral emissivity. The TES algorithm is combined with an improved Water Vapor Scaling (WVS) atmospheric correction scheme to stabilize the retrieval during very warm and humid conditions.
Additional Terra (MOD21) and Aqua (MYD21) product information can be found using the links below.
The data are available for download through DAAC2Disk, Data Pool, and Earthdata Search.
