By: LP DAAC

The LP DAAC is pleased to announce the availability of PROVISIONAL daily 30 meter (m) global Harmonized Landsat Sentinel-2 (HLS) Landsat 8 OLI Surface Reflectance and Top of Atmosphere Brightness (HLSL30) data. HLS data leverages observations from both Landsat 8 and Sentinel-2 and offers a unique opportunity to observe Earth’s land masses with 2-3 days revisit periods at medium (30 m) spatial resolution for the globe. The provisional data are currently available in the LP DAAC Cumulus cloud archive, and represent a limited sampling of the data. These data have not yet been validated for their science quality and should not be used in science research or applications. However, this release provides the science community with a unique opportunity to provide feedback on the data prior to a vetted, science quality, data release.

These data are available as two daily 30 m global products: the HLS Sentinel-2 Multi-spectral Instrument Surface Reflectance (HLSS30) product and the HLS Operational Land Imager Surface Reflectance and TOA Brightness (HLSL30) product.

If you are interested in exploring these provisional datasets please download the data from NASA's Earthdata Search. If you have any feedback or questions about the data please contact lpdaac@usgs.gov or join our HLS conversation on the Earthdata Forum.

The LP DAAC will release a follow up announcement once the fully released HLS dataset is available. Users interested in downloading the fully released HLS dataset are encouraged to sign up for the LP DAAC listserv to be notified of future data releases.
