Aqua MODIS Version 6.1 Land Surface Temperature and 3-Band Emissivity (LST&E) data products for the period of April 17 (DOY 107) through July 26, 2022 (DOY 207 included) will be reprocessed. This reprocessing will correct the Level-1B cross-talk drift that was noticed in the Aqua long-wave infrared (LWIR) photovoltaic (PV) bands 27-30, following the last Aqua safe-mode event that occurred between March 31 (DOY 090) and April 14, 2022 (DOY 104). Aqua MODIS land surface temperature may show differences of up to 0.5-1 Kelvin, mainly over the vegetated areas. Users are requested to take note of this and start using the reprocessed versions of these products for any future studies.
A link for the Digital Object Identifier (DOI) landing page for each dataset impacted by this issue is provided below.
An update will be posted when reprocessing of the Aqua MODIS LST&E data is complete.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please contact LP DAAC User Services with any questions or concerns.
Update: All affected Aqua MODIS V6.1 LST&E data products have been reprocessed as of November 28, 2022.
